Hi my name is
Mark Harris and I have been a dog trainer for the past 6 year's.
Looking back over my life I've always had an affinity with dog's. Dog's always seemed calm and well behaved when they were around me. We seemed to have an understanding. Being a dog trainer was never a thought until I rescued a dog called Ben.
When I first got Ben my German Pointer he was a house wrecker & very disobedient. He had been passed from pillar to post and he had been to numerous dog trainer's without any success until he came to me. To start with he was a nightmare and wrecked my house. As I watched his destructive behaviour I soon realised he needed focus in his life. I decided a good way to do this would be to go to dog agility training with him. We developed an extrememly strong bond and became a great team winning many rossettes and many top fives. Unfortunately I have now had to retire Ben from his dog agility training but we still enjoy lovely walks along with my English Springer Spaniel Miley.
I still go to the dog agility club. While I was taking Ben there I started to help out with the obedience classes and that is when I realised that I wanted to work with dog's and owner's to help with any problems and give them a happy and contented life.
I started to research dog behaviour and soon came to the conclusion that positive reinforcement is the way forward. I went away for a few weeks on a course and came back a fully qualified dog trainer. Since then I have never looked back. I enjoy every minute I spend helping problem dog's.
Ben is ten now and Miley is four. I use both of my dog's in my roll as a dog trainer to help socialise dog's who are aggressive to others. Ben and Miley have a calming influence over other dog's and they help put them at ease. I have helped many people with there dog's and had many success storys.
I find it rewarding when I see a smile on a dog owners face when a troubled dog becomes a good member of the family.
